Arville L. Thompson

Arville Leon Thompson, 73, of Tower Hill passed away at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Kurt Feneley and Rev. Ron Newman officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery with Military Rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church or The Gideons International.
Arville was born November 22, 1941 in Seminary Township, Fayette County, IL the son of John Elmer and Zelma Frances Daniels Thompson. He graduated from Vandalia High School in the Class of 1959 and later graduated from Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, IL. Arville served in the U. S. Army from 1960-1962. He was office manager and controller for Moultrie-Shelby FS and controller for Lakeland FS at the time of his retirement. Arville was a member of the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church and the Shelbyland Camp of Gideons International. He married Joyce L. Hostetler on October 3, 1965.
Arville is survived by his wife Joyce; son, Alan Thompson (Tracy) of Oakwood, IL; daughter, JoDee Baird of Tower Hill, IL; granddaughter, Katherine Thompson of Oakwood, IL; sister, Grace Carson (Mike) of Brownstown, IL; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Bohle of Greenville, IL and Sally Thompson of Lincoln, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd, Wayne, Lester and Glenn Thompson; and nephew, David Thompson.
