Mabel I. Evans

Mabel Irene Evans, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 in the First Church of the Nazarene of Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden and Rev. Bob Turner officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Church of the Nazarene or Saving Orphaned Animals.
Mabel was born on March 4, 1924 in Elk Point, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry Charles and Olive Pearl Hudson Holley. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1942. Mabel worked as grocery clerk for Holley and Evans, Barney’s, Eisner’s and Johnston’s IGA and a retail clerk for Coast to Coast Hardware Store all in Shelbyville, IL. Mabel also answered the phones for Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL for over 15 years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville, IL. Mabel married Dale Junior Evans on March 13, 1943.
She is survived by her husband, Junior; sons, Richard D. Evans and wife Teresa of Terre Haute, IN and Stephen W. Evans and wife Pennie of Mt. Vernon, IL; daughter, Rebecca Huber and husband Ross of Shelbyville, IL; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Lucas, Michael Evans, Jimmy Hedderich, Hank Evans, Danny Evans, Amy Evans, Travis Huber and Samantha Huber; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Glen, Ralph, Cecil, Clyde, Clarence and Orville Holley; and sister, Ruby Wallace.
