James Steven “Steve” Christman 

(June 1, 1957  – December 30, 2021)

James Steven (Steve) Christman aka “Slats”, 64, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Blake and Rev. Robert Russell officiating.  Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, Saving Orphaned Animals or the Christman family.

Steve was born on June 1, 1957 in Anna, IL, the son of Esten Bertrum and Barbara Eleanor Wilson Christman.  He was a union welder, working for Plumbers, Steam Fitters and Refrigeration Fitters Local #65 of Decatur and then Local #137 of Springfield.  Steve attended the First United Pentecostal Church of Pana, IL.  He enjoyed fishing, gun collecting, riding his motorcycle and above all, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He married Lynnetta Dalene Malloy on November 27, 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Lynnetta; daughters, Amber D. Goddard (Jason Althoff) of Charleston, IL, Dawn M. Christman of Shelbyville, IL and Brittany D. Christman (Maverick Welton) of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Ron D. Stiverson of Champaign, IL; five grandchildren, Delaney A. Goddard, Alexis D. Goddard, Serena R. Musser, Dyson A. Welton and Thomas F. Christman; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
