George W. Underwood

George Wayne Underwood, 93, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 5:17 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, at Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany, IL, with Pastor Mike Reynolds officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 of Findlay. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
George was born on January 23, 1931, the son of Walker and Belva (Burress) Underwood. George served his country in the United States Navy. He later worked for Mason Steel Fabrication in Decatur, IL, until the time of his retirement. George enjoyed collecting John Deere Tractors, mowing, and working on lawn mowers. He attended Faith Covenant Church in Findlay, IL.
George is survived by his son, Mike Underwood (Cindy); daughter, April Suarez; five grandchildren, Bailey, Ethan, Lexie, Jessica (Alex), and T.J.; five great grandchildren, Atticus, Gatlin, Lincoln, Jace and Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Donald, Charles, Larry and Terry Underwood; three sisters, Doris Peters, Margie Scott and Sandy Brown; and his beloved dog, Merle.
