Timothy R. McClain

Timothy Ray “Tim” McClain, 64, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 11:08 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shop with a Cop facilitated by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
Tim was born on April 3, 1960, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Carl Franklin and Lorene (Gordon) McClain. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1978 and went on to earn his associates degree from Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL. Tim began working as a police officer for the City of Shelbyville Police Department on February 1, 1982. He served the City of Shelbyville for 32 years, until his retirement in 2014. Tim enjoyed working around the house, driving through the countryside of Shelby County, and treating his kids to meals at all the local restaurants. Above all, Tim loved to make others laugh. Even during his last days, he joked frequently with the doctors and nursing staff. His lighthearted demeanor and willingness to help out others at a moment’s notice is how we will remember him.
Tim is survived by his sons, Jared McClain and wife Jaime, Will McClain, and Jack McClain all of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Morgan White and husband Mitch of Strasburg, IL; brothers, Dennis McClain and David McClain (Nancy) both of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Paula McClain of Paris, IL; three grandchildren, Sonny and Tucker White, and Parks McClain; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Kelley and Colin McClain
