Barbara J. Sarver  
(September 17, 1928 – May 29, 2021)

Barbara June Sarver, 92, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away peacefully in her home at 2:32 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Herrick, IL.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Barbara was born on September 17, 1928 in Owensboro, KY, the daughter of Ollie T. and Bertha Ford Huff.  Her family later moved to Louisville, KY, where she met her future husband, Aldiff, on a downtown sidewalk.  Aldiff was there during a three day pass from his naval ship during WW II.  Their first date was a tour of the ship and on their third date, he asked her to be his wife.  They were married on August 20, 1946 at the Shelby County Courthouse.  He passed away on August 24, 1989.

She devoted herself completely to her husband and her children as a homemaker and also was an Avon Representative for 15 years. 

Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family and attending church at Christ Tabernacle, Herrick, IL, where she attended faithfully for many years.

Barbara June will always be remembered for her beautiful spirit, loving kindness and sweet Southern charm.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Lynn Sarver (Julia) and  John Sherman Sarver both of Cowden, IL; daughters, Rebecca Anne Borah (Greg) of Shelbyville, IL, Ramona Gaye “Mona” Richards (Bob) of Cowden, IL and Melissa June Mathis of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Doris Byerly of Crandall, IN; sisters-in-law, Myrna Eckard of Oconee, IL and Wreatha Huff of Auburn, IL; grandchildren, Landon Sarver (Lora), Angela Dust (Rich), Holly Smith (Les), Elizabeth Wellbaum (Jason), Kyle Richards (Kristina), Ashley Daniels (Matt), and Andrew Mathis; step-grandchildren, Tony and Ashley Borah; great grandchildren, Moriah and Leah Sarver, Rhett and Raegan Dust, Amelia and Everly Wellbaum, Kalea and Kyan Richards, and Lainey, Lydia, and Layton Daniels; and step-great grandchildren, Connor and D.J; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aldiff Franklin “Diff” Sarver; son, Aldiff Franklin “Frank” Sarver on August 15, 2006; brothers, Kenny and Ray Huff; and sister, Kathleen Childers.
