Catherine A. Ross

Catherine Ann Ross, 93, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in her residence.
A private burial will take place in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
Catherine was born on February 28, 1930 in Clarksburg, IL, the daughter of Thomas Christopher “Tom” and Mell Irene (Compton) Westenhaver. She married Richard G. Ross on February 28, 1954 in Corinth, MS. Catherine was a homemaker and a farm wife, working alongside her husband on the family farm south of Shelbyville. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid quilter.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Mary Laue of Shelbyville, IL and Melanie Derrickson (Larry) of Decatur, IL; son, Robert Ross of Mattoon, IL; three grandchildren, Emily, Kevin and Kyle; and three great grandchildren, Stella, Quinn and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard on September 10, 2015; and two sisters, Jean Wheeler (Ted) and Pauline Hubbartt (Donald).
