Donna B. Michael

Donna B. Michael, 86, of Stewardson, IL, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL with Rev. Kene Whybrew and Rev. Michael Mohr officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday in the church.  Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, IL.  In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Lutheran Ladies Aid of Strasburg.

Donna was born on May 21, 1938, the daughter of Clarence W. and Bernice I. (Weber) Brandt.  She graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1956 and later attended beauty school.  Donna married Thomas Wayne “Tom” Michael on July 18, 1958.  She was a homemaker and worked at Eisner Food in Urbana, IL.  Donna and Tom moved back to Stewardson, where she owned and operated Donna’s Beauty Salon, co-owned Michael’s Mower Service, and helped on the family farm. Donna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL, where she served as church secretary for many years and was active in Sunday school, Ladies Aid and church choir.  Her hobbies included reading her bible, gardening, baking, drawing and painting, and needle point.  Donna was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved her dogs and entertaining.  She will be remembered for her homemade cookies and noodles.

She is survived by her sons, Gary W. Michael (Maura) of Champaign, IL and Larry T. Michael (Nena) of Urbana, IL; granddaughters, Marissa Michael and Jessica Michael; and great granddaughter, Madelyn Twine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom on March 11, 2014; sister, Roma Jean Prosser (Donald); and nephew, Michael T. Prosser.
