Douglas R Warf
(September 21, 1938 – March 10, 2009)

Douglas Ray Warf, 70, of Shelbyville, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in his residence.

In keeping with Doug’s wishes, following cremation there will be no services. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Dialysis Center. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements.

Doug was born on September 21, 1938 in Madisonville, KY, the son of Raymond and Ethel Pauline Wallace Warf. He graduated from Champaign High School in the Class of 1956. He married Dixie L. Hurst on June 11, 1961. He retired from Ameren/CIPS, working in Pana, Shelbyville and Mattoon. Doug was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville and was Charter President of the Shelbyville Jaycees, Past Governor of Moose Lodge #1294 of Shelbyville, Chairman of the MDA Telethon and a Shelbyville Little League Baseball Commissioner. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking, family, cards & games with his friends, going out to eat and his favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Illini, and the Bears. Doug also enjoyed antiques and auctions.

Surviving are his wife, Dixie; sons, Dannis Warf and wife Robin of Shelbyville, Dana Warf and wife Judy of Windsor and Darin Warf and wife Heather of Mattoon; daughter, Dara Johnston and husband Clint of Forsyth; grandchildren, Dustin Warf, Ashley Warf, Lauren Warf, Morgan Warf, Madelyn Johnston, Taylor Warf, Lily Johnston, Chloe Warf, Sam Johnston and Alex Warf; and one step-grandchild, Josh Skinner.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
