Ethel Edith “Toots” Adkins, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 11:35 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. David Beerbower and Rev. Scott Bons officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Mt. Pleasant Church of God, National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Reece’s Rainbow.

Mrs. Adkins was born on March 18, 1924 in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of John “Jack” and Grace King McGuar. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption, IL and Pana Community Hospital Auxiliary. She married Howard Leon Adkins on April 28, 1941. He died on November 19, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Judy Small (Wayne) of Shelbyville, IL, Linda Abell (David) of Pana, IL, Janie Fox (Stuart) of Shelbyville, IL, Jackie Newbanks (Jim) of Chatham, IL and John Adkins (Cindy) of Chatham, IL; grandchildren, Ellen Trainor (Chuck), Aaron Small (Elizabeth), Adrienne Lauff, Ashley Hadowsky (Ely), Annie Reid (Jade), Abbie Ballard (Zac), Maggie Daniel (Kylie), Jared Lively (Brittany), Jordan Lively, Judson Lively, Joel Lively, Derek Adkins, Stephanie Adkins, Amanda Steward (John), Annette Dinkins (Derek) and Casey Newbanks; and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; brother, Ralph McGuar; and grandchildren, Daniel and Douglas Fox.
