Glenn Richard Rodman

Glenn Richard Rodman, 89, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in his residence.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Shelby Christian Church, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard.  Memorials may be given to Shelby Christian Church or the Shelby County Honor Guard.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Richard was born on February 8, 1935, in rural Moweaqua, IL, the son of Glenn William and Velma Ladene (Beard) Rodman.  He was a member of the first class to graduate from the new Shelbyville High School.  Richard then served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War.  When he returned from service, he worked for the Oliver Corporation and then owned and operated the Mobil Gas Station in Shelbyville, IL with his brother.  Richard later went to work for Caterpillar in Decatur as a welder, retiring in 1991.  Richard married Donna Lee Brown on October 15, 1953, and they were married for over 70 years at the time of her passing on February 26, 2024.  He enjoyed woodworking, attending country music shows and watching the Cardinals, Illini and Chiefs.

He is survived by his sons, Glenn William “Bill”  Rodman (Kim) of Herrick, IL and Jeff Rodman (Jackie) of Lakewood, IL; daughter, Julie Navis (Dale)  of Shelbyville, IL; 11 grandchildren, Shane Rodman, Amber Fecter (David), Josh Linder, Derek Linder, Travis Reider (Liz), Troy Reider (Ali), Stephanie Walters, Staci Kirby (Tanner), Justin Navis (Breezy), Bryar Rodman (Kim), and Blair Rodman; 25 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; brother, Ronald Rodman; sister, Shirley Mae Vaughn; two grandsons, Jason Navis and Tony Reider; and one great grandson.
