James Wagner

James Wagner, 81, of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, died at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 in University Center East, DeLand, FL.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Senior Citizens Center or the Chautauqua Restoration Fund both in Shelbyville.

Mr. Wagner was born on January 9, 1930 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Dayton D. and Helen Merle Apple Wagner. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1948. He began working for his father at Dayton Wagner’s Coal and Limestone and Dayton Wagner & Sons Redi-Mix in Shelbyville. He later owned and operated B & J Redi-Mix, B & J Cleaning Service and JaWag Redi-Mix all in Shelbyville. He also owned and operated Designer Mail Boxes in Bonita Springs, FL. He was a member of the Fire Department, Kiwanis Club, Sportsmen’s Club, Fourth of July Committee, Chautauqua Committee and Moose Lodge #1294 all in Shelbyville, IL and Elks Lodge #623 in Charleston, IL. He married Patricia Lowe Pinkston on April 22, 1975.

Surviving are his wife, Pat; children, Vicki Stephens and husband Darrell of Shelbyville, IL, Steve Wagner and wife Nancy of Shelbyville, IL and Janet Farrell and husband Jack of Deltona, FL; step-daughter, Terri Miller and husband Rod of Overland Park, KS; brother, Donald Wagner and wife Dicka of Forsyth, IL; sisters, Louise Metzger of Shelbyville and Marjorie Pierce of Pana; sister-in-law, Linda Wagner of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Angie Stephens, Ryan Stephens, Jim Wagner and Jeff Farrell; and step-grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany and Brett Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Wagner; and brothers-in-law, James Metzger and John Pierce.
