Janice A. Koontz, 78, of Pana, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, died at 6:39 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Archie Fox officiating. Visitation will take place 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Pana Community Hospital Foundation for Oncology Clinic or Best Friends Animal Society in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Janice was born March 14, 1939, daughter of Walter and Mary (Garber) Posteher. She attended Pana High School and was a former member of the Cornerstone Community Fellowship in Shelbyville, IL. She married Norbert Franklin Koontz on February 14, 1959. Janice was a homemaker and deeply devoted to her family. Janice had a love for animals and was the former president of the Shelby Humane Society.

She is survived by her Daughter, Lori A. Holthaus (Steve) of Pana, IL; Sister, June Miller of Pana, IL; Brother, Phillip Posteher (Joyce) of Pana, IL; Sister-in-law, Phyllis Posteher of Pana, IL; and 2 special angels, Quintin Corley and Crystal Kopis (Brandon) of Lancaster, OH.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Norbert on September 15, 2002; and Brother, William “Butch” Posteher.
