Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Archie Fox officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL. Memorials may be given to the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church or Gideons International.
Joyce was born on May 6, 1943 in East Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of J. Fred and Frances Evelyn Acres Hostetler. She was a graduate of Tower Hill High School in the Class of 1961 and also of Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, IL. Joyce married Arville Leon Thompson on October 3, 1965. She was a homemaker and later an accountant for Shelby County State Bank in Shelbyville, IL, retiring in 2013. Joyce was a member of the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Alan Thompson (Tracy) of Oakwood, IL; daughter, JoDee Baird of Tower Hill, IL; granddaughter, Katherine Thompson of Oakwood, IL; brothers, Roy Spracklen (Donna) of Thomasboro, IL and George Spracklen (Pat) of St. Charles, MO; and sisters, Ruby Buesking of Mattoon, IL, Fanny Urfer (Dean) of Tower Hill, IL and Donna West of Pana, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arville Thompson of September 15, 2015; father and step-mother, J. Fred and Maribelle Spracklen Hostetler; mother, Frances Acres Stephens; brothers, Richard Hostetler, Fred Hostetler, Harold Stephens, Paul Spracklen, Peter Spracklen and Kenneth Stephens; and sisters, Diane Largent and Edana Karnes.
