Kenna Raye Mars, 70, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:33 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL. Memorials may be given to the family. Casual attire is requested.

Kenna was born on February 25, 1945 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Kenneth Raymond and Rosland Jeanette Allison Mars. She attended Shelbyville High School where she was a member of Future Homemakers of America and was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant as well as a Cosmetologist. She was a member of Calvary Temple Church, Springfield, IL and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4395 Ladies’ Auxiliary of Shelbyville, IL. Kenna was a proud supporter of the military and was honored to have four grandchildren serving in the armed forces. She treasured time spent with family and was passionate about animals. Kenna also enjoyed crafts, spending time on the computer, listening to country music and watching hummingbirds.

She is survived by her sons Ron Mars of Shelbyville, IL and Tony Mays of Herrick, IL; daughters, Angel Sparrow of Springfield, IL and Penny (Joey) Simmons of Mode, IL ; brothers Monte (Linda) Mars of Strasburg, IL and Daryl (Julie) Mars of Shelbyville, IL and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.
