Maureen T Hovey

Maureen T. Hovey, 93, of Breese, IL, formerly of Shelbyville and Springfield, IL, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at home in the loving care of Eileen and Paul Mundil. She is the beloved wife of the late Lloyd Hovey, mother of the late Jerry Hovey, sister of the late Patrick and James O’Brien, and daughter of the late Thomas P. O’Brien from County Kerry Ireland and Julia Foley O’Brien from Killorglin Ireland.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville, IL.

Maureen was a devoted wife and mother to eight children. She was born on March 27, 1926 in County Kerry Ireland. She was a faithful Catholic, worked in a factory in England, childcare in Canada and worked in a family bakery in Chicago, Sheldon and Granite City, IL and Kentland, IN. She also was a caretaker at Anna Henry in Edwardsville, IL and a caregiver in Shelbyville, IL.

She is survived by her much loved children, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Susan Hovey, John and Amy Hovey, Kathy and Dan Oettel, Eileen and Paul Mundil, Pat Hovey, Kenneth and Tammy Hovey and James Hovey. Loved and held dear to her sister, Joan Rickard, 11 grandchildren and their significant others, nieces and nephews, friends and extended family. Maureen will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by those who knew her.
