Agnes Fathauer

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. Memorials may be given to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Agnes was born on May 15, 1927 in Litchfield, Kentucky, the first born of Rufus and Evelyn (Poole) Dowell. Her family moved to the Tower Hill area when she was about 12 years old. Agnes married Darrell Davis in 1944 and he passed away in 1949. She then married Herman Jr. Fathauer on November 23, 1951 and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1977. Agnes was a clerk at Ben Franklin, Coast to Coast, and ACE Hardware Stores all in Shelbyville. She was a member of Knobs Baptist Church, Tower Hill, since 1940 and a charter member of Shelby County Home Extension Cold Springs Unit.

She is survived by her son, James Everett “Jim” Fathauer (Tammy) of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Bonnie Fathauer Hudson of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Kyle Hudson (Laura), Jeffrey Fathauer (Shelah), and Charity Dallas (Derek); two step-grandchildren, Alison Roberts and Tiffany Freier; eleven great grandchildren; seven step- great grandchildren; brother, Rudy Dowell (Flo Ann) of Pana, IL; brother-in-law, Thomas Cutright of Quincy, IL; sister-in-law, Berdella Fathauer of Shelbyville, IL; several nieces and nephews; and her Heritage Health Family.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Jr. Fathauer; and sister, Shirley Cutright.
