Alan Young

Graveside services will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Ron Newman officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – Noon on Saturday morning in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Pregnancy Resource Center in Shelbyville, IL or the Salvation Army.
Alan was born on December 30, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of William Leon and Clariece Sanders Young. He received his Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy and came to Shelbyville in January 1985. He was Head of the Cardio-Pulmonary Department at Shelby Memorial Hospital. In 1995 he earned his Associate degree in Electrical Engineering and worked for Ameren in Decatur, IL until his retirement. He was a member of IBEW Local #51 in Decatur, IL. Alan married Carolyn Taylor on October 20, 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Daniel Young and wife Jennifer of Sullivan, IL; grandson, Evan Young of Sullivan, IL; sister, Ginger Pack and husband David of Palmer, AK; one niece; one nephew; and three great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
