Alice Louise Kayser, 95, of Strasburg, IL, formerly of Milwaukie, OR (near Portland, OR), died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Heartland Christian Village, Neoga, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Lewis officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to the Strasburg United Methodist Church.

Alice was born on August 9, 1920 in Livingston, Montana, the daughter of Peter and Amalia Louise Anderson Swanson. She became a Registered Nurse at Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Portland, OR. Alice was a Registered Nurse in hospitals and nursing homes in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. She attended the Strasburg United Methodist Church and was a member of ALC Lutheran Women’s Auxiliary and the League of Women Voters. She enjoyed tatting, crocheting, gardening, sewing, organ music and playing bridge and pinochle. Alice enjoyed the many visits and phone calls from family and friends over the last eight years in Strasburg. She also missed her many friends from Milwaukie, OR, who did keep in touch with her faithfully. Her presence and cheerful attitude will be missed by many. She married Phillip Gordon Kayser on April 11, 1942. He died on October 20, 2005.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Shiels and husband Dennis of Strasburg, IL; grandchildren, Amy Hibdon (Brad) of Effingham, IL, Jesse Harris of Shelbyville, IL, Katie Killam (Mike) of Shelbyville, IL, Sterling, Spencer, Sara, Susan, Simon, Serena and Savannah Kayser of Surprise, AZ and Boise, ID; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hibdon, Elijah Hibdon, Jenna Hibdon, Danielle Hibdon and Elizabeth Hibdon all of Effingham, IL, Rozlyn Killam of Shelbyville, IL and many more in Arizona and Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Steven Douglas Kayser.
