Alma Randolph (Pettry) Smart, 81, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 12:38 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL from 1:30-3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.  A family graveside service will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with Father Pawel Augustyniak officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Saving Orphaned Animals and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Alma was born on February 15, 1942 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Dr. Harvey H. Pettry II and Anna Wilcox (Parker) Pettry.  She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1960, attended Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Charleston in West Virginia. She married Roy Gibson “Gib” Smart on August 27, 1965.  Alma was a marketing director for senior healthcare until her retirement.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville, IL.

She is survived by her husband, Gib Smart of Shelbyville, IL; sons, Roy Gibson “Gibby” Smart of San Jose, CA and Andrew Parker “Andy” Smart (Jeneen) of Simpsonville, KY; granddaughter, Emma Smart of Boston, MA; brothers, Harvey H. Pettry III (Cindy) of Olney, IL and William “Bill” Pettry (Candy) of Shelbyville, IL; and sister, Martha Brechlin of Fairhope, AL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Mary Janice Smart; and brother, Brugh Pettry.
