Anna “Joy” Daugherty, 92, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Shelbyville Manor.
A family memorial service will be held later with burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Community Fellowship and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
Joy was born on July 13, 1932, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of William E. and Laura “Blanche” (Switzer) Williams. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1950. Joy married Charles Carter Daugherty on September 11, 1952, at the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, and they had four boys, Scott, Mark, David, and Mike. She began working for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company in Mattoon as an operator. Joy later worked for Johnston’s IGA in Shelbyville, where she was the frozen foods department manager. She was a skilled seamstress and a member of Cornerstone Community Fellowship in Shelbyville, IL.
She is survived by her sons, Scott Daugherty (Alma) of Champaign, IL, Dave Daugherty (Beth) of Lafayette, IN and Mike Daugherty (Stephanie) of Lafayette, IN; nine grandchildren, Brian Daugherty (Melissa), Brent Daugherty (Rachel), Dana Allen, D.J. Daugherty (Amber), Kristina Hawk (Shaun), Kourtney Callahan (Bobby), Madelyn Rothenberger (Jacob), Matthew Daugherty (Zoey), and Mason Daugherty; great grandchildren, Connor Walker, Hannah Pyles, Hunter Daugherty, Tanner Daugherty, Gavin Daugherty, Ethan Daugherty, Michah Daugherty, Daisy Daugherty, S.J. Hawk, Forest Hawk, Marley Callahan, Rory Callahan, Zachary Callahan and Lula Daugherty; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, William E. Williams; mother, Blanche Campbell Williams; husband, Charles Daugherty on January 1, 2022; son, Mark Charles Daugherty on January 4, 2021; one great grandchild Lucky Hawk on September 13, 2011; brother, Elroy Campbell; sister, Esther Helton; and twin sister, Joyce Allen.
