Arlen E. Lash

(January 28, 1934 – October 13, 2022)

Arlen Eugene Lash , 88, of Mt. Vernon, IL, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Lincolnshire Place, Decatur, IL.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Rob Dillingham officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Okaw Valley FFA.

Arlen was born on January 28, 1934 in Shelby County, IL, the son of Hal and Irene (Hoke) Lash. He graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1952 and attended Sparks Business College in Shelbyville.  Arlen served in the United States Army as an Intermediate Speed Radio Operator during the Korean Conflict where he earned a Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medal.  Arlen married Evelyn Morrison on July 5, 1959 in Shelbyville, IL, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Arlen worked as an Agent for the Internal Revenue Service and was a member of N.A.R.F.E.. He served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader and was an avid gardener. Arlen enjoyed collecting toy tractors, coins and St. Louis Cardinal bobble heads.

Arlen is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Todd Lash and wife Chandra of Libertyville, IL, Erin Lash and wife Lisa of St. Peters, MO; daughters, Lauri Clark and husband Brad of Decatur, IL; and Kari Boyd and husband Ken of Warrensburg, IL; brothers, Ron Lash and wife Jan of Glen Carbon, IL, and Roger Lash and wife Sally of Findlay, IL; eight grandchildren, Mason and Madeline Clark, Holden and Collin Boyd, Emma, Tyson, and Bode Lash, and Izzy Lash; and brother-in-law, Ron Camfield of Mattoon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Hal and Irene Lash; and sister-in-law, Karen Camfield.
