Arthur C Christopher

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 in the Tower Hill Christian Church in Tower Hill, IL with Rev. Derrick Ritchie officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Dollville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Tower Hill Christian Church.
Mr. Christopher was born on August 3, 1917 near Henton, Illinois, the son of Clarence Wilson and Elizabeth “Bessie” Bradshaw Christopher. He graduated from Tower Hill High School in the Class of 1936. Arthur was a farmer until his retirement in 1962. He then worked for King’s Feed Store in Assumption, IL before becoming employed by Caterpillar, Inc. in Decatur, IL. He was a member and Deacon of the Church Board of the Tower Hill Christian Church. Arthur was also a member of the Tower Hill Lions Club, UAW Local 751 of Decatur, IL, and served on the Tower Hill School Board for 12 years. He married Alice Edith Hitt on December 27, 1939. She died on September 4, 2001.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald L. Christopher (Evelyn) of St. Louis, MO and David A. Christopher (Linda) of Cowden, IL; daughter, Carolyn A. Cole of Tower Hill, IL; brother-in-law, William Hitt (Ada) of Free Union, VA; grandchildren, David Cole (Twylah), Kelly Cole (Cody Reeves), Connie Compton (Brad), Andrea Christopher, Sara Kuhl (Mike) and Clint Christopher (Amy); step-grandchildren, Kim Weaver, Becky Moore (Todd) and Rita Wahl (David); great grandchildren, Ashley Huey (Ben), Brittany Zaring (Paul), Tiffany Clayton (Shane), Allison Miller (Andrew), Cale Atkinson, Emily Atkinson, Courtney Kuhl, Grant Kuhl, Reid Kuhl, Brylee Christopher, Ella Christopher and Faith Christopher; step-great grandchildren, Emily Yarnell, Hannah Yarnell, Megan Robinson (Dalton), Luke Moore, Frank Schniederjon and Nicole Schniederjon; and great great grandchildren, Cole Huey, Daevany Huey, Kyler Huey, Gunner Huey, Paul Clayton and Josie Clayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son at birth; son-in-law, Eugene Cole; brother, Lawrence Clark Christopher; and brother-in-law, James Hitt (Dorothea).
