Audrey J. Lucas

Audrey Joan Lucas , 86, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 1:11 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 in Aspen Creek of Sullivan, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Richard Hargrave officiating.   Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL.  Memorials may be given to First Christian Church, Findlay, IL or Willing Workers at the First Christian Church of Findlay, IL.

Audrey was born on March 9, 1937 near Assumption, IL, the daughter of Kenneth Earl and Dorothy (Root) DeWitt.  She attended Findlay High School in the Class of 1955. Audrey married Don C. Lucas and they had three children, Debra, Michael and Steve.  She worked as a school bus driver for Findlay Schools for several years before attending Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL to study nursing. Audrey then worked at Decatur Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse until the time of her retirement.  Audrey was a member of the First Christian Church of Findlay, IL and the Clarence Bixler American Legion Auxiliary Post #409, Findlay, IL, and enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Wagner of Findlay, IL; sons, Michael Lucas (Shelley) of Jackson, MO and Stephen Lucas (Diane) of Findlay, IL; sister, Charlene Janssen (Don) of Decatur, IL; six grandchildren, Amy Fink (Dustin), Lisa Clark (Jeremy), Aaron Lucas, Jared Pfeiffer (Kassie), Brandon Lucas (Cheyenne) and Brooke Brantley; 19 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy DeWitt; husband, Don Lucas on December 3, 1992; sister, Beverly McConnell (William); and grandson, Eric Lucas.
