Baird E. Reider, Sr.

Baird E. Reider, Sr. , 84, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

In keeping with Baird’s wishes, no services will be held.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Boosters Foundation and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Baird was born on December 29, 1938 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Frank and Jessica Aileen Walden Reider.  He was a laborer for Christy-Foltz in Decatur, IL until his retirement.  Baird later worked for Shelbyville Community Unit School District #4 and County Market in Shelbyville.  He was a member of the Coon Hunters Club and Sportsmen’s Club both in Shelbyville and the Windsor Gun Club.  Baird taught gun safety classes at Twin Oaks Sporting Clays near Mode. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping.  Baird married Sharon Arlene Martin on December 15, 1963.  She died on June 3, 2015.

He is survived by his daughter, Judi Reider of Shelbyville, IL; son-in-law, Larry Graham of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Lavon Reider of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Blake Forbes, Tanaya Musgraves (Gary Russell), Michael Reider (Amy), Matthew Graham (Samantha), Jessica Reider (Joe Flint) and Jon Reider (Monique Linea);  great grandchildren, Whitney Jennings, Zach Jennings, Rylee Fisher, Caden Musgraves, Kyra Russell, Isaac Reider, Keegan  Musgraves, Grayson Musgraves, Gatlin Betts, Cameron Graham, Carter Graham, and Lilith Reider; great great granddaughter, Everleigh Fiscus; and several others whom he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Reider; daughter, Gina L. Graham; son, Baird E. Reider, Jr.; grandson, Michael Derrick; brothers, Nelson Reider and Kenneth Walden; and friend, Rick Musser.
