Barbara Ann Cripe, 68, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, died at 2:40 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Burial will be at later date in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Barbara was born on December 6, 1946 in Tucson, AZ, the daughter of Marvin Winford and Malinda Fern Skidmore Young. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1964 and attended Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, IL. Barbara was an administrative assistant for the State of Illinois Legislature in Springfield, IL. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, IL and Kumler United Methodist Church in Springfield, IL. Barbara enjoyed traveling with her dear friends Karen and Roy Walker of Columbia, IL and walking her much loved dog, Sydney. She married Keith L. Cripe on August 5, 1989. He died on August 3, 2005.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Stewardson of Dallas, TX and Molly Stewardson and husband Charlie Bates of Long Beach, CA; brother, David W. Young of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Linda Olander of Springfield, IL; two grandchildren, Miles Bates-Stewardson and Hattie Bates-Stewardson both of Long Beach, CA; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith; and sister, Sharon Young.
