Barbara A Schumacher
(August 11, 1941 – November 20, 2016)
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Tom Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Crievewood United Methodist Church in Nashville, TN or Melrose Chapel in Quincy, IL.
Barbara was born in Effingham, IL on August 11, 1941, the daughter of George C. and Gretchen L. Duncan Schumacher, and lived in Altamont, IL. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1959 and the University of Illinois before earning two master’s degrees at Kansas State. Her teaching career was spent in the preschool department in the Quincy, IL public schools. She moved to the Nashville, TN area in 2010, becoming active in the Crievewood United Methodist Church and volunteering for Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Jane (Tom) Lively of Brentwood, TN; nephew, Matt (Cathy) Lively of Murfreesboro, TN; niece, Jill (John) Stevens of Antioch, TN; great nieces, Sydney and Kendall Lively; and great nephews, Tommy, Ryan, and Daniel Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gretchen Schumacher.
