Barbara Elaine Hubner, 70, of rural Assumption, IL, passed away at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at home with her loving family.

Services to honor Barbara’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Mike Pritts officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Barbara was born on May 16, 1946 in her childhood home, the daughter of Ralph Clark and Wanda Pauline (Wilcoxen) Hardy. She attended school through the 5th grade in Findlay, IL, before moving to rural Tower Hill, IL. She graduated from Tower Hill High School in 1964, two years after meeting the love of her life, Harold Hubner. April 30, 1965, she was married and fell more in love every day for over 51 years.

After contracting work for many years with the Corps of Engineers around Lake Shelbyville, she later retired from International Paper Company in Shelbyville, IL. Barbara was inducted into the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was once active with Shelby County Civil Defense. Barbara was a long time member of the Henton Church of God. Barbara enjoyed making flower arrangements, spending time with family, and dining out. She was an incredible mother to two daughters and a loving wife and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; daughters, Trudi Filchak of Moweaqua, IL and Deborah (Andrew Lambert) Davis of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, John and Samantha Filchak, Tiffany and Matthew Davis, and Alexander Lambert; brother, Charles (Carleen) Hardy of Tower Hill, IL; and sister, Linda Pritts of Dalton City, IL.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Michael Davis; son-in-law, John Filchak; and brother-in-law, Bill Pritts.

The family would like to give thanks to the Quad County Hospice, Dr. Benjamin Esparaz, all the nurses at Decatur Cancer Care, Pastor Mike Pritts, and the many family and friends that provided support, prayer, and food.
