Barbara E. Mahnke

Barbara Ellen Mahnke , 85, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 12:11 a.m. Sunday, December 5, 2021 in her residence.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL with Rev. Tim Yankee officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the family in care of Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL, 62565.

Barbara was born on January 24, 1936 in Clarksburg, IL, the daughter of Walter Lee and Edna Etta (Shanholtzer) Severe. She attended Shelbyville High School. Barbara was very content to be at home.  She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, working puzzles and playing cards, especially gin rummy.  Barbara married Fred Mahnke on January 23, 1992.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; daughter, Joyce Cambruzzi (Ray) of Wilmington, IL: son, Mike Severe of Wilmington, IL; sisters, Velma Dilley and Wanda Trimble both of Shelbyville, IL: granddaughters, Lisa Wren of Shelbyville, IL and Tammy Essington (John) of Emington, IL; great grandchildren, Shelby Wren of Alaska, Shawnie Essington (Josh Hunt) of Cabery, IL and Harvey Wren of Tennessee; and great great grandchildren, Ali and Lilly of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Wilkey; sisters, Virginia Mahnke, Dolly Severe, Wilma Severe, Norma Mose and Catherine Woolard; and brothers, Walter Lee Severe, Jr., Harvey Severe, and Virgil Severe.
