Barbara J. Barror , 88, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Shelbyville Manor.

Private family services will be held at a later date with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption, IL.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Food Pantry at Shelbyville First United Methodist Church (or your local food pantry) or the Danville Veterans Hospital and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Barbara was born on October 30, 1933 in Sangamon County, IL, the daughter of Hershel “Ike” and Julia LaVerne (Cherry) Hays.  She graduated from Moweaqua High School.  Barbara worked at Maton’s Flower Shop in Taylorville, State of Illinois in Springfield, Trulock’s in Assumption and was a retired domestic farm goddess.  She served on the Christian County Board Finance Committee for many years.   Barbara married Carl Robert Schloz.  She later married Bartholomew “Bart” Barror on August 28, 1971.  He died on October 1, 1993.  Barbara was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Assumption, ladies auxiliary of the church, Optimist’s Club in Assumption, Christian County Democrats’ Ladies Society and the Women’s Golf League at Lake Shore Golf Course in Taylorville.  Barbara was a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bulls, Fighting Illini Basketball, St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading and crocheting, but the most joyful interests in her life were her children and being a “Gram” to her many grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Carla Wilcox (Ralph)  of Los Lunas, NM and Tami Smith (Brian Brown) of Shelbyville, IL; son, Robert Schloz (Jan) of Decatur, IL; daughter-in-law, Connie Schloz of Moweaqua, IL; 11 grandchildren, Tim Wilcox (Brooke) of Portland OR, Carl Schloz of Decatur, IL, Nick Scholz (Maryann) of Decatur, IL, Brandi Washburn (Carlton) of St. Louis, MO, James Schloz (Jennifer Melendez) of Batavia, IL, Chelsea Killam (Zak)  of Shelbyville, IL, Destany Galvin (Jerod) of Westervelt, IL, Megan Donnell (fiancé Devin Peterson) of Shelbyville, IL, Brady Schloz (Kayla) of Alberta Lea, MN, Sadie Schloz (Derrick Holt) of Shelbyville, IL and Torry Schloz (Kristin) of Herrin, IL; three bonus grandchildren, Dillon Brown (Emily) St. Clairesville, OH; Molly Brown-Heidemann (Derek) of Millbury, MA and Shelby Alward (Jon) of Shumway, IL; 18 great grandchildren and two on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Julia Hays; husband, Bart Barror; sister, Louise Raymond (Louis “Louie”); brother, William “Bill” Hays (Ginny); sons, Carl “Chris” Schloz and Ronald Schloz; granddaughter, Alison Wilcox; and son-in-law, Kent Smith.
