Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 in Washington United Methodist Church, Stewardson, IL with Rev. Kathy Lewis and Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL. Memorials may be given to the Washington United Methodist Church, Stewardson, IL.
Bernadine was born on June 7, 1924 in Tower Hill, IL. She was the daughter of Henry and Sylvia Allison Behl. She shared 57 years of marriage to Melvin Collins. They were wed on December 26, 1942. Melvin preceded her in death in March 2000.
Bernadine worked at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL and Shelby Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville, IL. She was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church, Stewardson, IL. Bernadine was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her two sons, Richard (Judy) Collins of Bethany, IL and David (Tammy) Collins of Watson, IL; sister, Genevieve Rincker of Effingham, IL; three grandchildren, Kimberly Williams and fiancé Rich Ohnesorge of Altamont, IL, Michelle (Kyle) Knop of Strasburg, IL and Jill Hart of Sullivan, IL; five great grandchildren, Kayla (Josh) Nichols, Tanner Williams, Ali Hart, Kendall Knop and Drake Williams; one great great grandchild, Brantley Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.
Bernadine was reunited in heaven with her parents; husband; sisters, Audrey and Viola; grandson-in-law, Jerry Williams; unborn grandchildren; and many other loved ones.
