Bernice E Jackson
(February 15, 1938 – January 29, 2009)
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Bernice was born on February 15, 1938 near Lakewood, Illinois, the daughter of Albert Willard and Elise Brandt McCabe. She was the youngest of eleven children. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1956. Bernice was a telephone operator in Shelbyville for many years. She enjoyed cooking, movies, taking boat rides and spending time with her kids. She married Paul Allen and he died on January 31, 1958. She married Raymond Jackson on July 7, 1962 and he died on September 7, 2003. Bernice lived in Findlay, IL for 37 years and then Shelbyville, IL for 10 years.
Surviving are her sons, Jeff Allen of Findlay, IL, Larry Jackson and wife Ginger of Vincennes, IN and Lonnie Jackson of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Linda Cole and husband Lanny of Springfield, IL; brothers, Carl McCabe and wife Thelma of Westville, IL and Earl McCabe and wife Rosemary of White Hall, MI; sister, Ruth Yantis of Findlay, IL; sister-in-law, Imogene Lading and husband Carl of Strasburg, IL; two grandchildren, Seth and Cole Jackson of Vincennes, IN; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved pets, Odie and Sissy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Paul Allen and Raymond Jackson; brothers, Bill, Carter, Elmer, Ralph, Homer and Charles; and one sister, Cleo Jeffers.
