Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Entombment will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, located in Skyline Memorial Park, Monee, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville or the charity of your choice.
Mrs. Shambo was born on June 4, 1921 in Crete, Illinois, the daughter of John A. and Elizabeth (Watson) Sharp. She married Gerald George “Jake” Shambo on June 7, 1942. She worked for Wardway Paint Works in Chicago Heights, IL before starting her family. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being a den mother while her sons were in the scouting program. Her husband passed away on December 13, 2011.
Surviving are her three sons, Gerald Shambo, Jr. and wife Linda of Naperville, IL, John Shambo and wife Barbara of Shelbyville, IL and James Shambo and wife Elaine of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren, Mark Shambo and wife Judy, John Shambo, Jr. and wife Jody, Erik Shambo and wife Kim, Ryan Shambo and wife Kerrie, Jason Shambo, Amy Smylie and husband Shannon and Rebecca Murphy; and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald “Jake” Shambo; two brothers, George and John Sharp; sister, Dorothy Perry; and great grandson, Jacob Shambo.
