Berniece Buesking

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg Community Improvement Fund, Stewardson Community Foundation, or donor’s choice.

Berniece was born on June 8, 1927 in rural Stewardson, IL, the only child of Harry and Matilda (Kruger) Baumgarten. She graduated from Stewardson High School and attended Eastern Illinois State Teachers College in Charleston, IL. Bernice married Clarence Edward Buesking on June 27, 1948 in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL. Physical Education, Home Economics, Child Care, Family Living, and Consumer Education were among the classes she taught at Strasburg High School and Stewardson-Strasburg High School until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Strasburg American Legion Auxiliary, and the Retired Teachers’ Organization.

She is survived by her daughter, Perrie Sue Richards (husband John) of Effingham, IL; granddaughters, Mallory Weber (husband Bryce) of Effingham, IL and Meredith Richards of Decatur, IL; great granddaughter, Brynn Weber of Effingham, IL; and sisters-in-law, Neva Buesking of Strasburg, IL and Ruby Buesking and Ruth Buesking Reynolds both of Mattoon, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Clarence Buesking on February 10, 2011.
