Bertha Kessler

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund or donor’s choice. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.
Bertha was born on April 5, 1934 in Strasburg, IL, the daughter of Martin Henry and Lillian Hulda Henrietta Klepzig Lenz. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved to garden and enjoyed handwork, especially crocheting, quilting and knitting. She gave all of her handwork away for no cost to anyone, she was just that giving. Bertha worked most of her life as a real estate agent and was the recipient of the Millionaire Sellers Club Award. She married Edwin Harold Kessler on November 27, 1952. He died on September 9, 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra K. Ortiz and husband Jim of Alexandria, LA; son, Michael Kessler of Alexandria, LA; granddaughter, Amy Ortiz of Covington, LA; grandsons, Ryan Ortiz and wife Megan of New Orleans, LA, Joshua Kessler and wife Santana of Pineville, LA; and sister, Neva Hagan and husband Ken of Strasburg, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Melvin Lenz.
