Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Leon Goff officiating. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelby Memorial Hospital Foundation or Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Mrs. Porter was born on October 28, 1930 in St. Elmo, IL, the daughter of George and Esta Mize Hott. Betty Lou was a CNA at Olivewood Health Care Center in Shelbyville for many years. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint and watching her soap operas. She married Carl W. Porter on December 31, 1947. He died on August 14, 2012.
She is survived by her son, Terry Porter and wife Janice of Neoga, IL; daughters, Marsha Rinderer and husband Russell of Trenton, IL, Nancy Sudbring and husband Kenny of Grantfork, IL, Sandra Porter of Carlyle, IL and Debbie Dilley and husband Gene of Shelbyville, IL; brother, David Hott and wife Violet of Spokane, WA; seven grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Hott; mother, Esta Hott Sorrel; step-father, Lawrence Sorrel; husband, Carl W. Porter; brother, Harold Hott; son, Carl W. Porter, Jr.; and grandson, Christopher Porter.
