Betty Jean Coventry Lambdin, 97, of Sullivan, IL, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL. 

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Bjornbak officiating. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Sullivan, IL or Shelbyville Manor Activity Fund.

Betty was born on December 9, 1926, in Moultrie County, IL, the daughter of Elgar Glen and Ida Mae (Keown) Allen. She graduated as Salutatorian of Findlay High School Class of 1944. Betty married Carl E. Coventry on April 8, 1944, and they were married for 62 years before his death in September 2006. They were blessed with eight children: Sherry, Stephen, Dennis, Marilyn, Michael, Lynda, Roger, and Carla. She later married John R. Lambdin, Jr. on May 15, 2010, and they enjoyed 8 years of marriage until his passing in 2018. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sullivan, IL.

Betty is survived by her sons, Dennis Harold Coventry (Linda) of Meridan, CT, and Michael E. Coventry (Patricia) of Mattoon, IL; daughters, Marilyn Sue Zimmer (Mark) of Olympia, WA, and Carla Jean Dettling (Neil) of Shelbyville, IL; step-children, Byron Lambdin (Linda) of Sullivan, IL, Rita Edenfield of San Diego, CA, and Stella Lambdin of Sullivan, IL: daughter-in-law, Barb Thomas Coventry, Toledo, OH; brother, Kenneth Allen (Dara) of Olney, IL;; grandchildren, Rhonda Lee Bollenbaugh (Bill), Michael Todd Coventry-Fant (Chuck), Michelle Renee Kern (Aaron), Katherine Burke Coventry, Michael Jude Coventry (Jamie), Patrick Joseph Coventry, Mary Grace Coventry-Stern (Josh), Kelly Kress, Michelle Kress, Lyndsey Regina Reedy (Kevin), Brennon Andrew Baker (Kalyn), and Jared Thomas Coventry; and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Carl Coventry on September 9, 2006, and John Lambdin, Jr. on April 26, 2018; two daughters, Sherry Lee Cleveland and Lynda Diane Baker and her husband Stephen Andrew; sons, Stephen Edward Coventry and his wife Connie Jo and Roger Alan Coventry; step-daughter, Bonnie Rhodes; step-son, Clyde Lambdin; granddaughters, Rachel Michelle Dettling and one in infancy; grandson-in-law, David Matthew Johnson; brothers, Harold Glen Allen, Paul Edward Allen, and Bob G. Allen; and sister, Pauline Mae Johnson Boehm.

The family would like to express gratitude to both the staff and administration of the former Mason Point in Sullivan, Hawthorne Inn in Shelbyville, and the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville for loving and pampering our mother and grandmother. She loved you all.
