Bob G. Allen, 72, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Shelbyville and Findlay, IL, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at Sherman Home (Hospice of the Valley), Phoenix, AZ.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 in the First Christian Church of Shelbyville with Bob’s brother-in-law, Rev. Kevin D. Ray, officiating. Visitation from noon-1:00 p.m. in the church. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Sherman Home, 5801 East Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, AZ 85054-4503, Attn: Todd Koceja, RN, BSN, CHPN.

Bob was born on July 14, 1937 in Findlay, Illinois, the son of Elgar G. and Ida Mae Keown Allen. Bob married Phyllis Ann Reynolds on July 17, 1955. They are the parents of two children, Tim Eugene Allen of Shelbyville, IL and Anne Allen Hillmann of Phoenix, AZ.

Bob graduated from Findlay High School in 1955 as Valedictorian of his class. After moving to Arizona, he took courses at Glendale Community College, Glendale, AZ. Bob was an ASE Certified Master Mechanic for 50 years. He went to automatic transmission school in Dallas, TX and then worked at Bill Higby Transmissions in Dallas, TX. After returning to Illinois, Bob worked at Highfield Buick, Neely Pontiac and Fleener & Roberts, all in Decatur, IL. In Arizona, Bob was employed by Future Automotive.

Bob leaves his wife, Ann; son, Tim Allen and wife Chris of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Anne Hillmann and husband Scott of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren (in order of age), Casey Gene Allen and wife Dana of Westervelt, IL, Malea Lynn Allen of Charleston, IL, Brett Hillmann and Connor Hillmann both of Phoenix, AZ and Abbigail Allen of Shelbyville, IL; step-granddaughter, Trista Williams; and step-great grandson, Connor Walker.

He also leaves two sisters, Pauline Allen Johnson Boehm and husband Glen of Westervelt, IL and Betty Allen Coventry Lambdin and husband John of Sullivan, IL; two brothers, Harold Allen and wife Shirley of Findlay, IL and Kenneth Allen and wife Dara of Milstadt, IL; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Paul Allen.
