Bobby Newton Wells, 83, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in his residence.

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery (Section B), Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Bobby was born on September 23, 1937, in Royalton, IL, the son of Isaac N. and Lela B. (Price) Wells. He graduated from Danville High School in 1955, and went on to study at Danville Junior College and the University of Illinois. He married Mary Brubaker in 1961. Bobby worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Co., General Telephone Co., and Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company. He was a member of First Christian Church and Jackson Masonic Lodge both in Shelbyville, IL. Bobby enjoyed fishing and gardening and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He married Barbara J. (Bryson) Bennett on June 28, 1975.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Timothy Wells of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Nancy Wells Boltz (Greg) of Tower Hill, IL; sister, Mary Ann Childers of Houston, TX; step-children, Larry A. Bennett (Sue) of Ely, MN and Patti A. Metzger (Terry) of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Ethan, Aaron, and Alissa Boltz; and step-grandchildren, Derek Jackson, Stephen Bennett, James Strowmatt, Jake Bennett, and Thomas and Megan Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wathan Mark Wells; brother, Dave Wells; step-son, Jerry Bennett; and step-grandson, Joshua Bennett.
