Callie J Traxler
(October 09, 1984 – July 11, 2019)
Callie was born October 9, 1984, in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Sandra K. Lowry and the late Terry N. Traxler. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 2003 and was chosen to read a poem at her Baccalaureate service.
Despite Callie’s illness, she embraced life and cherished her family. Reading the paper, playing crazy 8’s, and games were her pastimes, but music and dancing, even in her wheelchair, were her passions. She was an avid Cubs, Illini basketball, and SHS volleyball fan, and she loved cheering for her brother’s basketball teams. Say “Go”, and Cal was ready. From shopping to road trips; all she needed was her shoes. Her beautiful smile, devilish grin, orneriness, and unbreakable spirit touched countless lives and hearts every day. She never knew a stranger.
Callie is survived by her mom, Sandi Lowry of Shelbyville, IL; maternal grandma, Betty Robbins of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Nick (Kelli) Traxler of Chesterfield, MO and Andy (Rachelle) Traxler of Columbus, WI; nieces, Emma and Brynn Traxler of Chesterfield, MO; sister, Christine (Ken) Traxler-Yaden of Kannapolis, NC; aunts, Tammy Scrivner of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Traxler of Arthur, IL; uncle, Alan (Linda) Traxler of Effingham, IL; great aunt, Joan Wilson of Dewey, AZ and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her dad; paternal grandparents, Darren and June Traxler; maternal grandpa, Robert Robbins; step-dad, Tom Lowry; uncle, Bob Scrivner; and aunt, Belinda Robbins.
Callie loved all her “Peeps” at Generations (you know who you are), for their compassion, care, love, and attention. We couldn’t have made it without you. Also, a special thank you goes out to the staff at St. John’s Hospital for the kindness and compassion we were given in the past few days.
A celebration of Callie’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the NNPDF (National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation), PO Box 49, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538-0049 or NNPDF.org in memory of Callie Traxler. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
