Carol J. Woods, 89, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on April 15, 2025, at The Villas of Holly Brook in Shelbyville.
Carol was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Shelbyville and was the daughter of Charles (Charlie) & Wilma (Connelly) Reynolds. She was previously married to Gene Woods.
Carol is survived by her three children, David (Barb) Woods of Shelbyville, Diane Cruitt of Sullivan and Doug Woods of Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Nikki (Rickie) Stroud of Waco, TX, Christopher (Stephanie) Woods of Taylorville, IL, Ashley (Jon) Reilly of Parker CO, Tony (Natasha) Cruitt of Arlington, VA, Kelli Cruitt of Sullivan, IL, and Alexis Woods of Dixon, IL; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Cheryl Welton of Shelbyville and Cherie (Dave) Buatte of Bethalto, IL; sister-in-law, Nina Reynolds of Decatur, IL; special cousin, Ginnie Hostetler; and family along with many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles (Don) Reynolds; and brother-in-law, Donald “Curly” Welton.
Carol was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville. Carol worked in the dietary department at Shelby Memorial Hospital and several years at Shelby County Senior Center where she had many friends.
Carol always had a smile on her face, loved her family, loved her church, enjoyed cooking and making pies.
Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Howe & Yockey Funeral home in Shelbyville with Rev. Tim Yankee officiating. Visitation one hour before service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery Shelbyville, IL. Send condolences at www.howeandyockey.com
