Carrie Eva (Wheaton) Tavenner, née Hubbard , 64, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Glenwood Cemetery, Blyman Addition, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor John Mohler and Clay Hubbard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The General Dacey Trail and mailed to Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Carrie was born on May 17, 1959 the daughter of Ned and Betty (Ramsey) Hubbard. She grew up in Columbia, IL, and graduated from Columbia High School. She married Robert “Steven” Tavenner on March 3, 1990.  Carrie worked in the billing office at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville for 23 years, retiring in 2023. Carrie was a force of nature! She loved her family and friends fiercely. The light of her life was her grandchildren. Carrie loved exploring the great outdoors while camping, canoeing, and traveling and sharing these passions with her husband and grandchildren. Another recent passion of Carrie’s was competing with her local Mahjong group. Carrie loved antiquing, beach trips, and had the greatest zest for life… anyone who knew her was the better for it.

Carrie is survived by her husband Steve Tavenner; children, Jared Wheaton (Kathryn) of Holts Summit, MO, Julie Foster (Phil) of Paxton, IL, Chase Tavenner (Brittany) of Shelbyville, IL, Jade Tavenner of Paxton, IL, and Corey Tavenner (Dawn) of Peoria, IL; 12 grandchildren, Alanna, Natalie, Rebecca, Rigsden, Reya, Meredith, Violet, Louise, Owen, Kaitlyn, Abigail, and Parker; great-granddaughter, Layla; sisters, Colleen Faulstich, Carol Turnbough and Chrissa Schremp (John); brothers, Clay Hubbard (Kathe), Cort Hubbard (Becca), and Curran Hubbard (Beth).

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Cameron Hubbard.
