Carroll C. “Bud” Dunaway, 85, of Cowden, died at 8:24 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006 in the Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, Illinois.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, in Cowden Free Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Goldsborough, Rev. Marvin Chalfant and Rev. Barry Long officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday in the church. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Arrangements by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Cowden Free Methodist Church or Gideon’s International.
Mr. Dunaway was born on October 1, 1920 in Shelby County, the son of W. Calvin “Cal” and Lila Prater Dunaway. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Cowden Free Methodist Church, where he held several offices. He was a former member of the Cowden School Board and the Cowden Village Board. He married Bettnia J. McConnell on December 20, 1941.
Surviving are his wife, Bettnia; sons, Mac Dunaway and wife Judy of Decatur and Keith Dunaway and wife Darleene of Cowden; daughter, Jane Toothman and husband Ken of Decatur; brother, Bill Dunaway and wife Gladys of Shelbyville and Don Dunaway and wife Ruby of Cowden; sister, Ann Huelskoetter and husband Dr. Delbert G. of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Kyle Dunaway, Karla Henke, Kari Dunaway, Tammy Kimberley, Kim Johnson and Amy Plinsky; and seven great grandchildren, Bri Kimberley, Rachel Kimberley, Kylie Johnson, Jamy Plinsky, Zoe Henke, Maya Henke and Colton Kolbeck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Lonnie Banning; sister-in-law, Bonnie Dunaway; and grandson, Kent Toothman.
