Charles C Jenkins

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Kurt Feneley officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Beacon of Hope Free Methodist Church of Pana, IL, Masonic Lodge #180 of Moweaqua, IL or Quad County Hospice.
Charles was born on July 25, 1944 in Pana, IL, the son of George Ross and Clover Melvina (Himes) Jenkins. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1963. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean DMZ Conflict. Charles worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur, IL as a stores controlman, retiring in 2009. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Shelbyville Fire Protection District for many years. He was a member of Beacon of Hope Free Methodist Church in Pana, VFW Post #2705 of Moweaqua, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 of Shelbyville and the Korean War Veterans Association. He married Lavinia Iva Duncan on December 1, 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Lavinia; son, Ross Charles Jenkins of Moore, OK; daughter, Lana Jo Sumner and husband Tim of Springfield, IL; and granddaughter, Macy McKenna Sumner of Springfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Betty June Jenkins, Madge Christopherson and Phylis Hedges.
