Charles C. Klauser, Jr., 86, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 12:31 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour before services on Monday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard.

Charles was born on August 2, 1928 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Charles Carter and Esther Catherine Ulmer Klauser. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1947 and attended Eastern Illinois University. Charles served in the Illinois National Guard and also in the Reserve of the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville for 17 years. He then worked briefly for Caterpillar in Decatur before becoming employed by J. I. Case in Terre Haute, IN, where he was a time study engineer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, VFW Post #4829 and Moose Lodge #1294 all of Shelbyville. He was an avid golfer and former member of the Shelby Country Club. Charles enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He married Reta Jean Michaels in June of 1966.

He is survived by his son, Michael C. Klauser and wife Cyndi Tyler-Klauser of Effingham, IL; daughter, Kathryn Owens and husband Daniel of Lafayette, IN; sister, Betty Pogue of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Abigail and Michael, Jr. Klauser of Effingham, IL, Zachary Owens of Lafayette, IN and Kevin Tyler, Jr. and wife Beth of Effingham, IL; great grandson, Noah Tyler of Effingham, IL; nephew, John Pogue and wife Jackie of Shelbyville, IL; niece, Pat Macklin and husband Mike of Shelbyville, IL; great nephew, Rob Macklin and wife Stacy of Effingham, IL; and great great nieces, Paige Kemme and her daughter Denise, and Jesse and Ella Macklin all of Effingham, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Dwight Pogue.
