Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville with Father Don Wolford officiating. Visitation from 4:00-7:30 p.m. Friday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville, Habitat for Humanity in Shelby County or Pride Packages.
Mr. Tomlinson was born on March 1, 1929 in Macon, Illinois, the son of John Bartholemew and Margaret Dunn Tomlinson. He graduated from Macon High School in the Class of 1947 and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville where he was a trustee and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired farmer and enjoyed building homes with Habitat for Humanity. He married Verla M. Jones on January 29, 1955.
Surviving are his wife Verla; daughters, Rebecca Thompson and husband Ed of Cowden, Teresa Van Deursen and husband Paul of Shelbyville and Annette Dunaway and husband Jim of Shelbyville; brothers, Wayne Tomlinson of Warfordsburg, PA, James Tomlinson and wife Margaret of Macon and Lloyd Tomlinson and wife Lois of Orland Park; sisters, Pauline Harpstrite of Decatur and Lois Falconer and husband Robert of Vista, CA; grandchildren, Stuart Thompson and wife Lola, Timothy Thompson and wife Molly, Kristin Bennett and husband Paul, Kelli Thompson, Nicholas Dunaway, Lucas Dunaway and Brock Dunaway; and great grandchildren, Royce Thompson, Brent Thompson, Ralph Thompson and Makayla Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Edmund and Robert; and sisters, Helen, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth and Rita; and granddaughter, Rachael Van Deursen.
