Charles Figge “Charlie” Nippe , 87, of Strasburg, IL, passed away at 8:12 a.m., Sunday, May 14, 2023 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL with Pastor Don Pankey officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Richland Cemetery, Strasburg, IL.  Memorials may be given to Winebrenner Church of God in Mattoon, IL.

Charlie was born on January 21, 1936 in Strasburg, IL, the son of Joseph and Lora (Figge) Nippe.  He married Mildred E. “Millie” Wendling on February 28, 1965.  She died on February 1, 2014.  He was a retired farmer.  Charlie also owned and operated Nippe’s Garage in Strasburg and was a truck driver for Moomaw’s in Stewardson.  He was a member of the Winebrenner Church of God in Mattoon, IL and enjoyed restoring old tractors, collecting Depression glass, and gardening.

He is survived by his son, William J. “Bill” Nippe of Strasburg, IL; daughter, Greta Hilty and husband Jeffrey of Eugene, OR; and brother, Noel Nippe of Strasburg, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Millie Nippe; brother, Curtis Nippe (Ruth) and sister-in-law, Gladys Nippe.
