Charles “Stanley” Ray, 80, of Clay City, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:56 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

In keeping with Stanley’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date in McInturff Cemetery, near Mulberry Grove, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals in Shelbyville, IL.

Stanley was born on April 23, 1938 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Ivan Leone and Lucille (Cahoon) Ray. He farmed in the Shelbyville area for Dave and Kathy Tice for 28 years. Stanley enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his children, Pam Freeze (Kenny) of Decatur, IL, Thelma Adams (Cindy Langston) of Shelbyville, IL, Stanley Ray (Pat) of Shelbyville, IL, Tammy Ray of Shelbyville, IL, and Debbie Nugent (Mark) of Cowden, IL; brothers, Richard “Buck” Risley (C.J.) of Decatur, IL and Larry Ray (Diane) of Vandalia, IL; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and his old friend, Ervie Webber of Clay City, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Ray; and brother, Cecil Ray.
