Clara I Hopkins
(August 08, 1926 – April 13, 2010)
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Brother Wayne Polk officiating. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to United Cerebral Palsy.
Mrs. Hopkins was born on August 8, 1926 in Coles County, Illinois, the daughter of Chester Ray and Flora May Allen Reynolds. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1944. She worked for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. in Shelbyville for many years. Clara loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren in recent years. She was a member of the South Second Street Church of Christ in Shelbyville and was devoted to her church family. Clara enjoyed flowers, plants and sewing. She married Kenneth H. Hopkins on July 2, 1950. He died on October 2, 2009.
Surviving are her son, Harold Hopkins and wife Cindy of Danville, IL; daughters, Kay Davis and husband Steve of East Galesburg, IL and Judy Retz and husband Jeff of Lizton, IN; brothers, Stan Reynolds, Chester Reynolds, Jr. and Gene Reynolds all of Shelbyville; sisters, Ruby Houk and husband Pete of Springfield and Hazel Rankin and husband Pete of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and sister, Susie Reynolds.
