Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with The Rev. Martha Bradley officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Memorial Home Services-Hospice in Springfield, IL or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Mr. Beckhoff was born on September 4, 1931 in Decatur, IL, the son of Fred and Mary Vernadene Francisco Beckhoff. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1950 and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. After retiring as a General Contractor, Bud worked for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department for 10 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL and the Sons of the American Revolution. Bud married Janet Louise Starwalt on January 6, 1951. She died on April 28, 2002. On December 21, 2010, he married Leah Olney Dorocke.
He is survived by his wife, Leah Olney Beckhoff of Chatham, IL; daughters, Deborah L. Beckhoff Mandujano of Guanajuato, Tarimoro, Mexico and Brenda S. Beckhoff Rathsack (Andrew) of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Kendra Fearnside (Craig) of Fresno, CA, Benjamin Rathsack (Arrion) of Austin, TX and Sarah Rathsack of Creve Coeur, MO; great grandchildren, Eric and Brandon Fearnside, of Fresno, CA and Alex and Kaylee Rathsack of Austin, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janet; sister, Betty Beckhoff Hendrix; and brother-in-law, Robert Hendrix.
